Allah had settled the duration of Hell-punishment to be 1 Huqb per Salah missing without any firm reason. A single Huqb is very long period of time. It is assumed that  (9×10¹³ seconds)= (١ حقب). In other words, 1 Huqb is approximately equivalent to 2,893,518 years, 6 months, 9 days, 1 hour, 40 minutes and 48 seconds to be more accurate in this regard. So you can easily presume how much LONG the period really is. And that is why Allah always wants us to save ourselves from the Hellfire (as we can never even tolerate the punishment even for a tiny fraction of second) through praying Salah.
